Assign a Proxy and Log In as Another Employee
TicketOS allows you to assign another employee as a proxy so they can act on your behalf, such as placing or approving ticket requests. You can also switch into another employee’s account if you have been granted proxy access. This article walks through how to assign a proxy and how to log in as another employee.
Overview
A proxy is an employee who has permission to access your account and perform actions on your behalf. This is useful when someone needs to manage requests, approvals, or tickets for you.
Once proxy access is assigned, the proxy user can switch into your account, complete tasks, and then switch back to their own account when finished.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Assign a Proxy
- Click the Account menu at the top of the page.
- Select My Profile.
- On your profile page, click Assign Proxy.
- In the search field, enter the name of the employee you want to assign as your proxy.
- Locate the employee in the search results.
- Click Add next to the employee’s name.
Once added, the employee will appear in your list of assigned proxies and will be able to act on your behalf.
Log In as Another Employee (Switch User)
If you have been assigned as a proxy for another employee, you can switch into their account.
- Click the Account menu.
- Select Switch User.
- Review the list of employees you have access to.
- Click Switch next to the employee you want to access.
You will now be logged in as that employee and can complete actions on their behalf.
Return to Your Account
When you are finished working as another employee, you can switch back to your account.
- Look for the notification at the top of the page indicating you are logged in as another user.
- Click the alert or notification icon.
- Select Switch Back to return to your account.
What Happens Next
After assigning a proxy, that employee will immediately have access to act on your behalf.
When you switch into another user’s account, all actions you take—such as placing or approving requests—will be performed as that employee. A visible notification will remain on the screen to remind you that you are logged in as another user.
Common Issues
You do not see the employee in search results
Make sure the employee exists in your organization’s employee list and try searching again.
You do not see the Switch User option
You may not have been assigned as a proxy for any employees.
You are unsure which account you are using
Check the notification at the top of the screen, which indicates when you are logged in as another employee.
Important Notes
- A proxy can perform actions on your behalf, including submitting or approving requests.
- You must be assigned as a proxy before you can switch into another employee’s account.
- Actions completed while switched into another account are attributed to that employee.
- A notification will appear while you are logged in as another user as a reminder.
- You can switch back to your account at any time.
